Using the "output options" on the ApacheSim window you can tell Apache to output surface temperatures - that may help you investigate more.

To Trixy:

Make sure you're changing the correct material; if it has no impact, this suggests that you're changing a material that is not used in the model, unless there is something about your model geometry that is unusual.

To David:

I just want to use this opportunity to complain about a big missing feature in IESVE which the competition offers and allows significant model interrogation: why doesn't IES allow to view the heat flux through any surface? The total internal and external conduction gain is completely useless if I don't know from which surface it comes from. Technically, if I already have the surface temperature on each side, then the heat flux doesn't even need to be stored as a separate variable, it can simply be calculated from the known material conductivity and temperature difference.

The same goes with radiation flux through a glazing... the incident solar flux is of not much use, it is much more useful to know how much is getting through to optimise brise-soleil configuration or a glazing system where it is needed most, but all you can get is either incident solar flux (on either side of the glazing) or the total solar gain into the zone. For sure if you know the incident solar flux and angle of the sun you can calculate the radiation flux within the software very easily within Vista, no need to store additional results.

Not having this really handicaps the IES specialist's ability to understand the building being analysed, and competing software already do this.
